I'll be the first to admit that winter is my least favorite season. Unless it's snowing, because snow is perfection. My disdain with winter is rooted in the lack of light. I'm a sunny day person, and the fact the sun sets at 5pm makes me a little depressed come January and February. Instead of hiding myself away like I've done in the past however, this year I want to use this season as a time to explore photography in lower light settings. These are my first experiments, taken after work this week.
I like the idea of trying something new this winter, and hopefully learning something in the process as well. What do you do when the winter blues get you down? big kiss, bekuh
I tried this out the other day..it was foggy and sad looking out but I decided to pick up my camera and see what I got. I actually kind of liked the difference.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots girl.
I feel the same way, but cloudy day photography has actually become my favorite! The low light, I feel, really makes colors brighter. And that'll put a smile on your face! :)
ReplyDelete"I'll be the first to admit that winter is my least favorite season. Unless it's snowing, because snow is perfection" - this is my exact stance on winter too! I think I handle the cold a little bit better when its pretty and snowy outside.
ReplyDeleteIn the case of shifting the winter blues, or, occupying myself untill its Spring again, I'm making loads of hand made things for Christmas. Gifts, cards, deocrations, baking. Its pretty fun!

ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent idea! Pick up a new hobby in the winter to helps us through the short-day blues. I love this. Thanks for the inspiration today Bekuh!

ReplyDeleteand I love your attitude about winter. it's tough for me too, but having a challenge really fixes things up.
I'm so thrilled to have found your blog via Selective Potential. There is so much beauty and inspiration here. Also, what a fantastic idea... I love the idea of playing with low light photography - your shots turned out so pretty. I hope to take a stab at city photos this winter, at night, with a tripod and use long exposures. I'm excited! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe winter blues have me bad this week. I baked cookies. It helped!

Not a huge fan of winter either! I had to turn my light on at 3pm today - whats up with that?! I am enjoying winter photography now I have a camera with a bigger ISO range though, not everything comes out blurry!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, I love that last photo. The colors are so warm!
ReplyDeleteThese turned out so nice! I hate the lack of sunlight in the winter too, but I enjoy the cooler weather since it stays hot here so long.
ReplyDeleteI actually get the winter blues pretty badly here in Seattle. It rains, and then rains, and then rains more, staying gray the entire time. It's really the little things that make me adore winter though (although it is my least fave also). The holidays are a biggie, and when those are over I try to do weekend activities like sledding or hiking in the gorgeous scenery we have here. Also, I am a HUGE comfort food lover, and cooking all day on a Sunday is my kind of day. :)
ReplyDeleteI just take it one small happy moment at a time. Your pictures are beautiful!
