A little retreat: just the two of us (part 1)

6.11.2012

Ryan and I packed our bags Friday afternoon and headed north to Charlottesville for a much needed escape. It's been a long, LONG, time since we did anything spontaneous and fun with just the two of us. I needed some time without our much loved pup, obligations, and worries, and I desperately needed some time with my husband. On Saturday morning we woke up and immediately put our adventure caps on. Our first stop was the downtown mall.
We spent the morning and early afternoon wandering through the farmer's market, browsing old records, hunting down vintage, and just shopping in general. By noon we were ready for a little rest and some delicious food. We landed at a second floor restaurant called Tea Bazaar and I'm so happy that we did. The atmosphere was amazing and the food...delicious.
We split the goat herder; an amazing platter of homemade pita, hummus, dolmas, and other bites. I felt like we were truly escaping life sitting on cushions on the floor, looking down at the street vendors, and eating our platter of goodies. I don't think I've shared a more contented meal with Ryan and I'd love to go again, but maybe next time we'll get a hookah too!
After lunch we gathered our things and headed back towards UVA, I'll share pictures from that portion of our journey later today. You can take a peek at more pictures on my instagram (@bekuhdoo) in the meantime. Happy Monday morning! big kiss, bekuh
