Wedding Week: The Rehearsal

10.25.2011

I was so happy when my Uncle Jim showed up to the rehearsal because I knew at that moment there would be loads of pictures to choose from when I got back from the honeymoon. Between he and my Aunt Dana almost every millisecond of my childhood is memorialized. I think overall there were around 150 pictures of the rehearsal and I sorted through them and narrowed the list to a beloved few.

I had spent so much time planning the actual day of the wedding that when it came to the rehearsal I had dropped the ball completely. I didnt know who was going to stand by whom, how to direct family members to stand or where to sit. I was a mess, but luckily my lovely wedding party were old pros at the walking, standing, ceremony order, and all that hoop-la. Thank God for Sam, our pastor, he was the glue that stuck the whole thing together.

We had a lot of fun being silly, laughing, dancing and getting to know one another. I am super blessed by the wonderful friends and family we had with us for the big occasion. A couple of notes about the whole shebang:
My sister kept all of the ribbons from the wedding showers and made my rehearsal bouquet out of them (so cute). Aggie, the littlest flower girl, dropped individual flower heads out of her basket and then picked them all up again to save them for the next day (love it). Ryan did a ridiculous irish dance for everyone during our mock vows (see above picture). The groomsman looked crazy awesome all standing in a line together (i.e. handsome looking dudes) and I felt like I was dreaming because all the planning had led to this practice and the day that followed.

Tomorrow will be part one of the ceremony, and if you missed our pre-rehearsal flower extravaganza check it out here. Hold on tight because things are only going to get prettier. (All pictures taken by Jim Berton & edited by Rebekuh Browning unless otherwise noted)

Wedding Showers

8.20.2011

Today I'm attending my second Bridal Shower and I'm soooo excited about it. Two of my very good friends, Lauren and Christine graciously offered to host the shower in Ryan and my honor and I'm so thankful for them. In light of that I realized I never posted pictures from the first shower! My Mom's bestie "Aunt Judy," threw a super sweet shower for Ryan and I a couple of weeks ago and we got A LOT of great items. Here are some highlights.

Aunt Judy made a pretty awesome spread of fruit, veggies and her famous chocolate muffins. She also had these AMAZING M&Ms made for us. They have our name on them! I've been eating the leftovers since the shower.

Ryan's Mom and Dad got us the luggage. You can see more of mine here and here I think that the picture above is the first one I've ever taken with her and it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.

My Grandmother came all the way from Ohio to be at the shower and that meant the world to me. We got to spend some time together and even went to brunch with ryan before the shower. It was really special to have so much family around me.

My sister does the most amazing job at wrapping presents. She got a special crafty bone for that sort of thing. I love this picture of Sarah and I with our Mom. We don't often get one where we all look so nice.

Thank you to Ashley for taking all of these photos, it certainly captures memories that will last a lifetime. big kiss, bekuh

The Night Affair

8.19.2011

So in the evening we did a couple of things, we went out for sushi and then went to a place called Rapture where we spent the last bit of our evening dancing and making positive fools of our selves. It was sooo worth it.

Is there any words for this, does there need to be? Excellent adventure, Alicia, Ashley, Lauren and Sarah are the best Bridesmaids EVER! Love you guys. big kiss, bekuh

Charlottesville Bachelorette Getaway

So I've at last edited the photos from my amazing bachelorette weekend. My stinky point-and-shoot camera didn't capture the moments as brilliantly as I'd hoped but here are a few of the highlights.

We'll start with early in the day first and then later on today I'll post again with the evening shots.

My sister found the quaintest little b&b for all of us to stay in super close to the downtown mall. We had half the place all to ourselves! We immediately began to nosh on some yummy snacks that my sister had packed in her "feed" bags. Poor Alicia had bus issues so we decided to hunker down and wait for her arrival before we took to the road and began our winery trekk.

As part of the welcome at the b&b they gave each of us a complimentary glass of wine and we sat out on the porch and enjoyed the park view and cool breeze. It was a magical start don't you think? big kiss, bekuh

So Ready for the Weekend

8.13.2011

This morning I'm leaving with two of my bridesmaids to meet up with my other two bridesmaids to get down and PARTAY! It's my bachelorette weekend at last and a well deserved break from the ordinary. While I'm off celebrating I thought I'd share a photo or two of some of my favorite ladies.

The photo order goes Alicia, Lauren, Ashley and Sarah. I heart them all.

They are all so gorgeous and fun to be around. Check back later to see what happened while the girls were out of town. big kiss, bekuh

Dad's Day

6.19.2011

Today is Father's Day and I wanted to send a little shout out to my old man, Dad. He's a true original.

No other man on the planet can be such a goof ball one moment and the most sensitive and caring person in the next. Though he loves to wear Hawaiian, and that is indeed a fault, he's still number one to me.

I know I complained a lot about this as a kid but thanks for your nose, your blue eyes and your sense of humor. I'm honored to be your daughter. big kiss, bekuh.

My Very Own Version of Peter Pan

5.09.2011

The youngest of the Powers clan, David, is going off to basic training this morning. I'm not quite sure what to write about all this. I'm so proud of him for making this decision and going at it with gusto but I'm also extremely sad to see him go. I kind of felt like as long as David lived at home or was in school that the adolecent boy I once knew would never grow up; my very own version of Peter Pan. But today he leaves Roanoke a man and I am coming to terms with that. I love you little brother and be careful! big kiss, bekuh
