In winter nothing soothes me like hot drinks, and food. I love walking into a kitchen where the oven's been on all day, and there's always a fresh pot of coffee waiting for me. It's not only comforting, but soul warming. You could say that I'm pretty passionate about good food, and it's never more true than in the colder months. Here's a peek into what our winter menu has looked like this year:

1. Turkey empanadas with cranberry sauce
2. Fried rice with vegetables and fried egg on top
3. Homemade butternut squash soup with biscuits
4. Sliced apples to go with grilled cheeses
What are some winter dishes you've been preparing lately? I love trying new things.

Looks delish. I'm sipping on some Earl Grey tea as I catch up on blogs :)
ReplyDeleteSome of my fav winter foods are chili, stew, and sausage gravy and biscuits (actually, I like that all year long)!

I've been big on soups. And grilled cheese sandwiches (accompanied by tomato soup, of course).
ReplyDeleteAll your food looks lovely. Have a great weekend!
i crave soup in the winter. i don't know why, but there it is.
ReplyDeleteYummy!! great photos
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling "fresh coffee". That's all i need during this time :)
ReplyDeletegiiiiiirl, empanadas were my JAM when i was in argentina (obvi).
ReplyDeletehaving a hard time finding empanada crust in the states, where did you find yours? need to order it?
xo the egg out west.
You are making me feel very, very lazy in the kitchen. ;)
ReplyDeleteThose empanadas look awesome. We do a lot of grilled cheese in the wintertime. It's so comforting. That and chili. Yum.

It all looks so delicious! I tend to make "boring" dishes, like spaghetti or tacos or a chicken dish. Dec last year, I branched out and made a yummy butternut squash stew with quinoa (which reminds me, I need to make it again). I've also just discovered that I love avocados and have a bit of an obsession with them right now. Could eat a egg, tomato & avocado toasted sandwich every night...sadly the rest of the family doesn't agree with me.
ReplyDeleteYum!!!! I recently tried making Shrimp and Grits for the first time a few weeks ago. SUCH a comfort food. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe're big fans of comfort food in the winter as well, grilled cheeses and soup are our favorite lazy day meal.
ReplyDeletegood food makes my heart happy. I've been craving chili and cornbread lately and it is too perfect for the winter months so I think I may need to make some soon.
