I've been spending a lot of time at home lately. I wouldn't say I've hit true hermit status, but I'm getting close. I have this tendency that when I start a project I can't stop until it's 100% finished. So with downsizing on my brain, pretty much all of my focus is on our stuff. As we clear areas around the home, it becomes painfully clear that we're lacking in some things I would deem necessary. For example:
useful side tables,
pillow covers,
candlestick holders,
attractive storage,
pretty lighting. The list goes on and on.
I'm such a DIY-er at heart, that I'd rather spend countless hours and resources on a handmade project than bite the bullet on the more expensive store bought versions. Even little things like
cutting boards,
Nellie's bed, and
tin candles can't escape my notice. Overhauling your belongings is a great time to evaluate what you'd like to see changed moving forward. I'm seeing a lot more handmade furnishings in our home.

DIY home decor is my new obsession. I want to hopefully design my entire blog with nothing but DIY projects.

Wow this list is addictive indeed. Some are actually quite easy to make. Thanks for a great list!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking at lighting diys for our home... Most of the rooms have absolutely no built in lighting! I love the mason jar light project :)
ReplyDeleteI'm doing this EXACT same thing!!! Spending all my time inside organizing and purging my crap. Thinking about possibilities for so many home designs and crafts. I'm in love with those candleholders!

I wish I knew how to do more DIY. I'm also like you, I like seeing a project through 100%.
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous options! I am so terrible at finishing projects I've started up, teach me your ways!!
ReplyDeleteGet it done, girly! I can't wait to see what you do with that cute little house of yours.
ReplyDeleteI love how you put it: overhauling your belongings to decide what is worth keeping! I am in total downsizing mode right now, trying to get rid of things we don't need or want anymore. And DIY-ing is another perfect solution for some leftover items that can be repurposed!
ReplyDeleteI love the monoprint, and that industrial side table project - so awesome! I wish I had experience working with those sorts of materials. I get too intimidated by anything that advises the use of protective gloves and goggles, haha.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, there are so many things for the home I would rather make myself than go out and by. I think part of it has to do with saving money, part of it has to do with being crafty having it exactly the way you envisioned it in your head (hopefully haha).
ReplyDeletethanks for the shout out, girl! happy tuesday to ya.

I seriously NEED that bookshelf and that cutting board. NEEEEEEEED.
ReplyDeleteI love that pretty lighting. So fun!
ReplyDeleteI am OBSESSED with that side table DIY from Lowes! I pinned it months ago and still haven't gotten around to making any... Someday! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd I am so with you on investing time in a DIY project over investing beaucoup bucks on new things... Amen, sister. :)
