Weekly Obsessions: Bundle Up

1.13.2013

Winter is really upon us, and despite the temperate conditions in Virginia right now I just know we'll see snow soon. At least that's what I keep telling my fluffy, snow loving self. Dressing in chunky winter layers is one of my favorite things in the world, and today I pay homage to that love. Why right now when many of you are digging you're way out every morning? Well, right now it's almost 70F and there's not an icicle in sight. But next week you just never know...

+ I just recently discovered Vanessa Jackman's photography and now I'm smitten. She takes such beautiful pictures, and my favorite subject of hers is always fashionable Ella Catliff. Such fantastic style.
+ Now that I'm learning how to do different braids I'm in love with side braids and chunky wool hats. This look is especially good, if only my hair were 6" longer!
+ The faux fur hat trend is really starting to get to me, who wouldn't want to look like the Russian royalty of yore?
+ Mustard yellow is one of my favorite winter colors, and really just colors in general. I love this look of a cropped jacket with long sleeve shirt underneath, and matching hat. So classy.
+ One of the things I'm saving up for this spring is a pair of new glasses, and I LOVE Warby Parker glasses a lot. When I saw this look on their Class Trip website I couldn't help but fantasize wearing something similar next winter. Classic with a bohemian twist, that's how I'd describe it.
+ Slouchy bag and hat, with skinny jeans, and fitted sweatshirt? Yes please! Of course throwing in a little plaid never hurts either. This look is perfection!
+ I'm not sure if I'm ready to dive into the drab green jacket trend yet, but I'm warming up to the look. How could you not when it looks so good with leather and bikes? Sarah from My New Roots is making me miss biking terribly. Must get back to it soon.
+ I'm partial to caramel colored leather (if you haven't noticed by now), and nothing completes a winter look like a nice satchel. Plumo has the perfect one...of course.

What are some trends, and looks you're coveting this winter? big kiss, bekuh

  6. we broke records this weekend with a January thaw, but today it's back down below freezing. i don't mind the cold so long as there's snow to go with it! i can't agree more with you about the chunky hats and braids :)

  7. My favorite winter jacket doesn't fit any of your trends, but my post reminded me to rescue it from my friends parents' house. It's been there since her wedding in October!

    Thank you!
