I Learned A Lot About You

7.30.2012

Thank you to the 86 wonderful readers who participated in my recent survey for the blog! I learned a lot about you from the little survey a couple of weeks ago, and it looks like I'm pretty much doing what I should be doing in this space. Woot Woot. I had a lot of really good feedback about a lot of different aspects of Secondhand Sundays and this is what I found:

1. A large majority of you, 77.7% in fact, are between the ages of 20-29. I suspected this, but now I know it's fact.

2. 97% of you are female, which means there are boys reading this blog. Hey-o to the boys reading this, way to represent.

3. Of all the features "you'd like to see more of," DIYs were far above the rest. 76% of of you want more projects to try. DIYs were also the highest ranked feature. And...you're in luck because I have a lot of great DIYs planned for the future. Including more accessory and home decor posts.

4. One statistic that surprised me was how many of you use Facebook the most, I guess I just assumed all bloggers were twitter addicts. Wrong. I'll definitely have to examine expanding my Facebook presence to include you more on that space.

5. I was extremely flattered by your sweet comments, and response on why you follow Secondhand Sundays. It was a shock how many of you follow just because you like me. Blushing

6. I also really appreciate your honesty about paying, or not paying, for advertising. The response on that question alone made it very obvious to me that I shouldn't start charging for advertising just yet. Though it is something I'm looking at, DIYs get expensive folks!

7. Also the questions & comments section proved to be very useful as well. I'll be working on cleaning up my sidebar in the next couple of weeks; and answering a couple of questions you had in posts.

I want Secondhand Sundays to be a place where we can all share in the joys, and sorrows of a creative life. From the screw-ups, to the glorious finish you should see it all. Moving forward you'll definitely see more creative projects, peeks into my daily life, fashion, and adventures in small business owning. Pretty much nothing will change, except that I know you better now, and know where to put a majority of my energy. Focus is a good thing. big kiss, bekuh

  1. I just found your blog and fell in love immediately. As a new reader, I didn't take part in your survey, but I wanted to leave note, saying that I love the happy and welcoming atmosphere you are creating in here. I agree with the other women aged 20-29 (although I'm already 31...) that simple and not to expensive DIY's are addictive. Can't get enough!

  2. I'm the one who clicked everything and wrote something like 'sorry i couldn't pick.' Just an FYI. i love that you shared the stats! mm can't wait to se what you do.

and DIYs and recipes do get pricey! it's actually why i chose to not focus on DIYs in my blog - because i thought recipes and DIYs would be overboard for me.

  4. I didn't do the survey, although I should have (I'm sorry!), but were there any other 14-17 year olds? I'm super excited for the DIY's! We're moving, and I get to decorate my room, so I hope to use some of your DIYs!

Also, I just found a really vintage-looking old suitcase and steamer trunk look-alike from unearthing old stuff when we were packing, and I just love them! I want to use them for my room, but I have no idea what to do with them. Any ideas?

  6. aww can't wait to see the DIYs you have in store!! I'm surprised by the facebook thing too, I keep wondering if it's something that I should be using for my blog but I don't know if it's worth doing unless you're regularly updating.

Speaking of DIYs, I've just finished making my top! I've got some photos on my last post if you want to take a peak..

I wanted to ask as well about swapping buttons next month?
