I'm in the market for something new and exciting to try in the beauty department. My beauty routine is worn out, my hair is falling flat, and I'm just not feeling as young as I want to any more. A friend recently suggested that I check out Birchbox but I'm skeptical of a $10 box full of samples that supposedly do magical things. Have any of you tried it?
I would love your opinion on this...or any beauty supplies you suggest. I warn you I only leave about 10 minutes for showering and 5 for make-up application in the morning so anything too involved just won't be my thing. I need quick and easy ladies. HELP! big kiss, bekuh

Aw, I'm really not that much help in this department, but a pop of lipstick color always makes me feel much more glammed up. I love the sample lipsticks that come with Clinique or Lancome purchases, but I tried this poppy reddish orange by Revlon, and I love it. These colors are fun:

Using Oil of Olay anti wrinkle night cream is like going to the SPA, and I love to use their SPF 15 day cream. They smell amazing and make my skin so soft. You can find them here:

And this sounds crazy, but I was hating my hair because it was getting waaay too long, so I decided to cut it myself. I LOVE, love, love this haircut! It's seriously one of the best I've ever had and beats most professional haircuts I've had. My hair was so sleek afterwards, and it's not over-the-top layered. I was questioning the video at first, but if you follow her instructions and part your hair correctly, it is AWESOME. I found it here:

Oh, and this stuff is amazing to making your hair super soft! Just rub it in after you take a shower.

That was ridiculously long! Sorry!
i've had several people warn me against birchbox.. saying that for the $10 it just isn't worth it to get samples that you probably won't like or need, and wouldn't be able to afford the full-size version of, anyway. then again, it might be worth it to try once since you can cancel? <3
ReplyDelete$10 isn't woth what you get in the box. The samples are, I feel, smaller than sample size. The only thing I really got out of it when I did it, was a super cute nail polish, but that was around Christmas and eachbox got a Zoya nail polish. Other than that, I've had the box twice, and only found one thing I liked out of it. And that's just because I'm nail polish obsessed.
ReplyDeletelipstick...i am telling you girl, it works WONDERS! if i'm ever having a down day or just need a little pick me up, i throw on my favourite red or pink lipstick (or any shade you make your favourite) and i instantly feel better and prettier. basically a fun lipstick colour and a little bit of mascara is all i feel a girl needs.
ReplyDeletered lips would look fab on you too!
I WISH i could have the birchbox or the myglam every month you should see what they give us in italy for 14 euro(around 20 bucks). They give us crap!
ReplyDeleteThis month after 5 months of everybody complaining they started doing them better.
So my opinion?go fo it it's cute, it'a s surprise and it's only 10 dollars!
Happy makeup!
I just got some Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream (it's like, moisturizer, concealer, foundation, spf, etc. all in one) and so far I really like it! New mascara always helps me, too - I'm currently using DiorShow Iconic and it's nice, although They're Real! by Benefit is good too. Or how about a new blush? Nars Orgasm is great for everyone. And a little trimmy trim of the hair and a brow wax never hurts! Go to Onyx :)
ReplyDeleteI use it and I LO-O-OOO-VE IT. Who doesn't want to get a box of samples in the mail? Just be careful when filling out the questionaire! Make sure you answer it honestly or you may get some weird things :)
ReplyDeleteI didnt want to read all the comments, so someone might have already suggested this...but I have been wearing purple mascara. Its hardly noticeable but gives a little kick and it's a little treat to me.
ReplyDeleteBlush, i wear a Mac blush.
Hm, maybe try coloured mascara. It's a fun little change, but not too over the top.
ReplyDeleteBLUSH, a rosy blush too, one that pops a bit. Cream blushes work well. It will make you look awake and fresh.
ReplyDeleteA pink lip, whether it be lipstick or tinted chapstick.
An eyelash curler and mascara.
Putting some white eyeshadow in the corner of your eyes and brow bone.
Also, tinted moisturizer is amazing.
This is my five min routine.
And about the hair, maybe you need a new shampoo and conditioner?
I've been on the fence about trying Birchbox too. I've heard mixed things but for $10, you could always try it. I say switch up some eyeshadow colors and maybe get a new hairstyle or quick trim. I need some sprucing up too on my end and that's what i think i'm gonna do.....
ReplyDeleteI have another idea :) Semi-permanent hairdye. Other than when you put it on, you don't have to do anything different and it'll just wash out eventually.
ReplyDeleteMy sister got me a three month subscription to birchbox for my birthday and I LOVED it. You get about 5 samples per box, but they're nice enough and big enough to make it worth it. I got an eye concealer that I absolutely adore and still use 3 months later. There were a couple things I didn't really care for, but they were few and far between. And it's just so fun getting a box of mystery goodies in the mail every month:)

I've never had a birchbox, but I have had Loose Button and Glymm. Sometimes it's great, but sometimes it's a lunchbag letdown. I wrote this article in response to so many of my friends asking about them: http://hubpages.com/t/2ddca0
